12/30/2013 Confirmed our flights!

Good News! I just finished talking to the travel agent and she just confirmed all our flights. All looks good for now!

Just to get you all excited about some of what we are going to see, I found this really cool picture online by Erwin Soo of Singapore's Chinatown.  Check out his awesome flickr pages here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/erwin_soo/

I thought that this photo shows nicely the contrast between old and new technologies.  I can't wait to see Singapore again!

12/29/2013 Preparation & Packing

Many of us are now in the process of packing.  Maybe feeling a little nervous too... ("What if I forget something important?!")  Not to worry, we are going to China (isn't everything already made there anyway?)  We are looking forward to a unique experience. While we don't know what roadblocks we may face, we are comforted by the fact that with a sense of humor, patience, grace and kindness to one another, we will have a great experience to look back on for many years.

We want to thank all of the students, parents, friends, faculty, off campus programs staff, and travel agents (http://www.globotours.net/)  for all you each have done to make this trip possible! We wish you all could come with us too!

P.S.  Just thought we would include a picture of a craft we are going to help the children make at Shepherd's Field Children's Village when we visit them in China!

10 Days and Counting!

The main goals for our trip are to learn about how technology (specifically computer technology) has influenced the thoughts and lives of people in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. We are interested in the viewpoints toward technology of people in Asian cultures and how those views differ from those in the West.
